THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (TCD) — A woman recently succumbed to her injuries almost two weeks after her son allegedly beat her with a hammer.
According to a news release from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday, Nov. 19, at around 10:52 p.m., deputies responded to the 200 block of Mayfield Court to a report of a possible assault. At the scene, the sheriff’s office said deputies found 63-year-old Alison Marshall suffering from critical, life-threatening injuries.
Marshall was transported to Los Robles Regional Medical Center via ambulance. Deputies also found an unidentified male victim, age 64, who was taken to a local hospital.
The sheriff’s office identified Marshall’s son, 21-year-old Scott Goldberg, as the primary suspect and apprehended him at the scene. According to the Ventura County Star, the male victim is Goldberg’s father.
Goldberg was initially arrested and booked into the Ventura County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. His bond was set at $510,000.
On Dec. 1, the sheriff’s office posted an update and announced that Marshall died from her injuries in the hospital. Her autopsy results are pending, but her death is now being investigated as a homicide.
According to the Ventura County Star, prosecutors plan to file a murder charge against Goldberg. A judge also denied him bail at a recent court date.
