RALEIGH, N.C. (TCD) — Police have identified and arrested a 59-year-old suspect accused of sexually assaulting at least 10 victims between 1995 and 2004.
According to a news release from the Raleigh Police Department, investigators gathered evidence from the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) and found a match, connecting Rickey Hall to sexual assaults that spanned the course of nearly 10 years. CODIS is a “national database that is made up of DNA profiles from convicted offenders, unsolved crime scene evidence, and missing persons.”
According to documents obtained by WRAL-TV, in 1995, Hall “willfully and feloniously did ravish and carnally know” a victim. He reportedly kidnapped, terrorized, and held the victim for ransom. WRAL reports that he allegedly grasped her neck and struck her against a wall when she attempted to flee.
Hall reportedly repeated his actions on another victim three years later, forcing her to perform “sexual servitude.” Hall allegedly strangled the victim and inflicted bodily injury as well.
According to WRAL, in each of his alleged crimes, Hall kidnapped and raped his victims and would often threaten them with various kinds of blades.
Police arrested Hall on Tuesday, Dec. 5. He was charged with 15 counts of first-degree sexual assault, 12 counts of first-degree rape, 10 counts of first-degree kidnapping, seven counts of assault –– serious bodily injury, six counts of communicating threats, five counts of assault with a deadly weapon, four counts of assault on a female one count of common law robbery, and one count of sexual assault.
Prior to his most recent arrest, Hall had reportedly been in and out of prison for approximately 18 years. According to WRAL, from 2009 until 2018, he served time for raping a child.
Hall is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 8.
