LANCASTER, Calif. (TCD) — Two people are in custody after allegedly killing a 4-year-old boy during a road rage incident last week.
On Friday, Dec. 15, shortly before 7:30 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators responded to an area near the 44600 block of Sierra Highway to a report of a shooting death. The victims were reportedly on their way to buy groceries near Sierra Highway and East Avenue J when the suspect driver “cut them off and then began following them through several surface streets.”
The man in the car being followed drove at a slower speed as the suspects followed, according to the sheriff’s office. The suspect driver allegedly “pulled up along the passenger side of the victim’s car and began shooting.”
A bullet struck a 4-year-old boy, who KTTV-TV identified as Gor Adamyan. He was in the backseat and was hit by a bullet in his upper torso. The boy’s parents drove him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police arrested Byron Burkhart and Alexandria Gentile on a murder charge. Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris said on social media that officials were able to track the suspects through a camera system, and the sheriff’s office served search warrants on them at a Lancaster hotel.
