Cops Release Video of ‘Persons of Interest’ in Murders of Pregnant Teen and Boyfriend – Crime Online

San Antonio police on Thursday released a video that shows two “persons of interest” in the shooting deaths of a pregnant teen and her boyfriend.

Savanah Soto, 18, and Matthew Guerra, 22, disappeared a day before Soto was scheduled for a labor induction, as CrimeOnline reported. Their bodies were found Tuesday in Guerra’s car. Police say they believe both deaths were homicides, although Police Chief William McManus said a murder-suicide has not been ruled out.

He said detectives were awaiting the final determination from the medical examiner’s office, but, he added, “I believe we’re past that now.”

The video released on Thursday shows someone driving a dark-colored Chevy Silverado with a bed cover and another person driving Guerra’s gray Kia Optima. Police wrote in a Facebook post that the video was shot “nearby where the bodies were found.”

McManus said the video was recorded a few days before the bodies were discovered. The chief said investigators believe the video shows the Kia driver using something to wipe down the side of the car but “we can’t be 100 percent certain of that.” Investigators don’t believe the Kia’s driver was Soto or Guerra, and McManus declined to say whether they believe the pair were alive at the time.

In the video, the truck pulls up and stops alongside a fence in what could be an apartment parking lot. The Kia comes from the opposite direction and stops alongside the truck. The truck’s driver gets out of the vehicle, as does the Kia driver, and they are seen doing something to the Kia before both get back into the respective vehicles and drive away.

The medical examiner’s office has confirmed that the victims found in the car had gunshot wounds and that Guerra was one of those victims, McManus said. The second body has not been positively identified, but “I think we can be confident that victim is Savanah,” he said.

McManus also confirmed that police believe Guerra and Soto were killed elsewhere and the car driven to the northwestern San Antonio apartment complex where it was found after several days.

Detectives are currently combing through surveillance video in the area as well as social media and cell phone records of the victims to try to track their path from when they were last seen.
