A Colorado mom accused of killing her 7-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter and trying to kill her 11-year-old daughter was arrested Saturday in the United Kingdom.
Colorado Springs police said 35-year-old Kimberlee Singler was taken into custody without incident, the Denver Post reported, but did not say where in the United Kingdom she was located.
The UK tabloid The Sun reported that she was captured in London’s upscale Kensington area.
Colorado Springs police issued an arrest warrant for 35-year-old Kimberlee Singler on Wednesday, charging her with first degree murder, attempted murder, child abuse, and assault. A judge placed a $10 million bond on the charges and sealed the warrant.
As CrimeOnline reported, Singler initially reported that her two child had been killed — and she and the other child injured — during a burglary on December 19. Police later determined that the reports of a burglary were “unfounded,” but by that time, Singler was in the wind.
She was last seen on December 23.
Prior to her disappearance, Singler ignored a court order to hand the children over to their father, Kevin Wentz. After ignoring the order to make the transfer on December 16, she was given a second order for December 20, a day before she called in the fake burglary.
According to The Sun, Singler appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court on Monday and said she did not consent to extradition. The court was told she had no apparent ties to the UK and had been staying at a hotel in Kensington.
Her attorney did not request bail, and she was remanded to jail until a second hearing on February 29, when a former request for extradition is expected.
