SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (TCD) — Police arrested a 28-year-old woman this week on suspicion of stabbing her mother and livestreaming the fatal attack.
According to the San Rafael Police Department, on Monday, Jan. 8, shortly before 5 p.m., officers and paramedics responded to an apartment building on Cresta Way in reference to a fight and stabbing. Calls reportedly came in to police from witnesses and those who viewed a video of the stabbing on Facebook Live.
At the scene, police found Tonantzyn Beltran standing on the apartment’s rear balcony holding a knife in her hand next to her mother, identified by the Marin County Sheriff’s Office as 55-year-old Olivia Lucia Beltran Pacheco. The victim had sustained multiple stab wounds, and her clothes were soaked in blood.
Olivia Lucia Beltran Pacheco was transported to a local hospital via ambulance with life-threatening injuries, where she died an hour and a half later.
Tonantzyn Beltran refused officers’ commands, and another team of law enforcement officials forced entry into the apartment and took Beltran into custody.
Police contacted Meta to get the video of the stabbing taken down.
In an update, officers said the suspect has “produced content on many social media platforms” and created a video in the lobby of the Santa Rosa Police Department lobby.
A friend of the victim told KNTV-TV the victim leaves behind two daughters.
