A woman allegedly forced her way into a home, killed her boyfriend in grisly fashion, and tried to flee from police while only partially clothed.
Investigators in Omaha, Nebraska, did not immediately suggest a motive when they said that Alyssa K. Roman, 31, fatally shot Alan Critser, 33.
Officials said they took Roman to a hospital because she appeared to show signs of excited delirium, according to allegations as reported by Indiana radio station WBIW and Omaha ABC affiliate KETV.
Police said the killing happened on Dec. 29 at an address on N. 55th Plaza.
“Officers were called to the area at approximately 5:10pm to investigate a possible home invasion,” officers wrote.
Authorities reportedly said that Roman used Critser’s shotgun to shoot him in the torso and neck, resulting in his head being “almost off the body.”
Prosecutors reportedly claim that Roman was high and partially clothed.
After the shooting, Roman allegedly walked about 500 feet to another home, and ran out of the back of that second home when officers arrived, KETV reported. Officers nonetheless managed to capture her.
Police reportedly described finding “skull and brain matter” in the hallway of the murder scene. Critser’s body was found in the upstairs master bedroom with a gunshot to the head.
A shotgun was in a separate upstairs bedroom, the barrel reportedly covered in women’s pants and underwear.
Witnesses said Roman forced her away inside one of the homes while wearing just a shirt, cops reportedly alleged.
Officers described her as telling them at police headquarters that, in their words, Critser “did not shoot himself and that they were the only two individuals present in the residence at the time the homicide occurred,” according to The Omaha World-Herald.
Roman is charged with second-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony. She is being held without bond at the Douglas County Jail, records show.
