2 US Moms Drugged & Raped by Bahamas Resort Staff During Carnival Cruise Vacation – Crime Online

Two Kentucky women alleged that they were drugged and raped at a Bahamas resort on Sunday.

Amber Shearer and Dongayla Dobson told News Nation that the assault occurred at a stop in Grand Bahama during a Carnival cruise. They claimed they took a taxi from the cruise to the resort — where staff spiked their cocktails.

Shearer alleged that she and Dobson were searching for seashells on the beach when a resort employee approached them and claimed he knew where they could find shells. Shearer said it was the last thing she remembers before the assault.

“I came to in the process of my rape,” she told News Nation.

The pair also claimed they reported the assault to local authorities who did administer a rape kit and treated them like criminals. Toxicology screens reportedly came back positive for benzodiazepines.

WLEX reported that Shearer and Dobson had bruises all over their legs. Now home, the women are receiving medical care, including HIV post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) which costs $4,000.

Shearer told News Nation that Carnival did not tell them about the U.S. Department of State escalating a travel advisory for the Bahamas late last month due to increased crime.

“We had no idea what was going on in the Bahamas,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Royal Bahamas Police Force announced on Sunday that they have arrested two men, ages 40 and 55, for Shearer and Dobson’s sexual assault. Police said their investigation is ongoing.
