Florida authorities released video footage of a 13-year-old Florida boy speaking to his mother last year — hours before he allegedly killed his mother.
During the first clip, Irina Garcia, 39, tells Derek Rosa in Spanish not to run in the house, to which Rosa asks why she is always telling him that. Rosa is filmed reentering the Hialeah apartment — where he allegedly stabbed his sleeping mother more than 40 times as she slept near her newborn daughter, WPLG reported.
Rosa, who called 911 after the slaying, reportedly told detectives how he woke up, got a kitchen knife, and repeatedly stabbed his mother. Garcia’s newborn daughter was unharmed.
WTVJ reported that another video clip shows Rosa opening a door as police lights flash in the background and police officers walk up to his apartment.
Rosa was charged as an adult with first-degree murder. After killing his mother, Rosa allegedly sent a friend two photos of his mother and a selfie which apparently showed blood on his hands.
The teen allegedly told a 911 dispatcher that he sent pictures of his dead mother to someone he met online. He went on to tell the dispatcher that there was blood all over the floor.
“I took pictures and I told my friend about it,” he allegedly said in the 911 call. “Was that bad?”
A motive in Garcia’s murder remains undisclosed. A court hearing is scheduled for February 15.
