Suspect in Murder of Queens Mom Seen Leaving Crime Scene in Victim’s Leggings – Crime Online

New York detectives say they have extensive video of a suspect in the murder of a Queens mom found dead in a Lower Manhattan hotel room last week.

The video shows a man leaving the hotel wearing leggings: Police believe he put on Denisse Oleas-Arancibia’s leggings after he killed her, leaving his own bloody jeans behind in a room on the SoHo 54 Hotel’s 11th floor, WABC reported.

“We have video of the woman arriving at the location, wearing a distinct pair of leggings and later on we have a male leaving the hotel wearing the same leggings and we also have a pair of male pants in the hotel room. There was blood all over the pants,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny told reporters, according to WNBC.

The New York Post obtained a photo from an unknown source showing a man on the sidewalk wearing the leggings, a tan jacket, and a beanie that it said was the suspect.

Oleas-Arancibia’s 18-year-old son reported his mom missing on February 8 when she hadn’t come home from work on Wednesday, as CrimeOnline reported. The medical examiner ruled her death a homicide from strangulation and blunt force trauma. A bloody, broken iron found near her body was likely the cause of the head wounds.

Officials said that Oleas-Arancibia, 38, was known to check into the hotel periodically. She, her son, and a nephew immigrated from Ecuador, where a younger son still lived with her parents.

Police told WNBC that they are investigating whether Oleas-Arancibia was working as an escort. She does not appear on their databases as such, but her son said he didn’t know what she did for a living, just that she went from their home in Queens to Manhattan to work every afternoon.
