Suspect in University of Colorado Double Homicide Now in Custody, Identified as Detroit Man – Crime Online

Police took a suspect into custody on Monday concerning a double homicide at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs campus.

Colorado Springs police arrested Nicholas Jordan, 25, of Detroit, on two counts of first-degree murder. Police found Jordan in a vehicle early Monday in Colorado Springs. He was arrested without incident, according to officials with CSPD.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, one of the victims, 24-year-old Samuel Knopp, was a student at the Colorado Springs campus while the second victim, 26-year-old Celie Rain Montgomery, was not, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.

An autopsy has been conducted but the El Paso County Coroner’s Office has not yet released the cause and manner of death. Police said they were investigating both deaths as homicides.

ABC News reports that police said that the shootings were likely “an isolated incident between individuals who were known to one another and not a random attack against the school or other students.”

CSPD said that the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 719-444-7000. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at  719-634-STOP (7867) or 1-800-222-8477.
