SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, Pa. (TCD) — A 45-year-old Elvis impersonator from Michigan faces charges after he allegedly engaged in child sex crimes with a 16-year-old girl in Pennsylvania.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania announced Feb. 23 that a federal grand jury indicted Matthew Chantelois on three counts related to the interstate sexual exploitation of minors.
According to the indictment, in and around October 2023 and in and around January 2024, Chantelois allegedly “used, persuaded, induced, and enticed a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction of that conduct.” Additionally, Chantelois is accused of “possessing and transporting child sexual abuse material in interstate commerce.”
According to a report obtained by WDIV-TV, on Jan. 24, at approximately 4 a.m., authorities arrested Chantelois at a motel in Summit Township, Pennsylvania after he was caught with a naked 16-year-old runaway girl from New York. The victim reportedly told police she met Chantelois on social media, and he gave her vodka. They allegedly exchanged nude photographs as well.
Court records show Chantelois was arrested on charges of interference with custody of children, corruption of minors, and sell/furnish liquor to minor. His bail was set at $100,000.
If convicted, Chantelois faces between 15 and 60 years in prison, a fine of up to $750,000, or both.
The defendant reportedly performs as an Elvis impersonator under the name “Matt King.” According to his website, he is “one of the world’s top-ranked Elvis tribute artists” and has won dozens of contests.
