Strain’s friends last saw him at 9:52 p.m. on Friday, after a night of drinking downtown at a bar on Gay Street in the city’s Broadway area. His friends reported his disappearance after he was kicked out of Luke Bryan’s bar.
Strain, who was visiting Nashville with his fraternity brothers for their formal event, appeared excited about the outing, sharing pictures of the various bars they visited. Surveillance footage captured Strain walking alone and stumbling down a street at 9:46 p.m. on Friday, followed by another angle showing him running and falling. Nashville police released video footage of Strain crossing the street with a group at 9:47 p.m. Friday, wearing a two-toned shirt, before he vanished.
The search for Strain continued for days, with Nashville police releasing additional video footage showing him crossing 1st Avenue to Gay Street, several blocks from the bar where he was last seen. Strain was described as 6 feet 5 inches tall, with blue eyes and light brown hair, wearing a brown button-up shirt with darker sleeves and a matching dark front pocket.
Despite detectives pursuing tips and leads, and thorough searches of the downtown area and nearby riverbank by foot and helicopter, Strain remained elusive, and the investigation into his disappearance remained active.
Strain’s family and officials from the University of Missouri expressed concern and offered support.
