OHIO COUNTY, Ky. (TCN) — A 23-year-old man faces multiple charges after allegedly killing his 81-year-old neighbor with a machete.
Ohio County Sheriff Adam Wright announced Feb. 25 that a grand jury returned an indictment charging Aaron Crowe Jr. with murder, first-degree burglary, tampering with physical evidence, and persistent felony offender in connection with the death of Norma Greenwell.
According to WFIE-TV, on Feb. 5, the victim was found stabbed to death in her home. A K-9 reportedly led authorities to a pond, and they found a machete believed to be used to kill Greenwell.
Wright told WFIE, “The amount of violence that went into this was something of just pure evil,” adding, “Why Ms. Greenwell had to lose her life due to this crime? We do not know yet. We are still working on that. We want to make sure that we build a solid case for the Commonwealth Attorney’s office and make sure that Ms. Greenwell’s family gets justice.”
Crowe remains held in the Ohio County Detention Center on $1 million bond. The suspect has a criminal history and allegedly robbed a market in 2020.
According to WFIE, investigators believe there may be at least one more arrest for Greenwell’s death.
