CINCINNATI (TCN) — A 15-year-old was arrested for reportedly fatally shooting his mom’s boyfriend, who had a warrant for his arrest on a charge of domestic violence the same day he was killed.
On Feb. 20 at around 12:30 a.m., Cincinnati Police Department officers responded to the 1600 block of Pasadena Avenue for a shooting and found 30-year-old Levonte Hyde suffering from gunshot wounds. Medics transported him to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. That same day, Homicide Unit detectives arrested Ronez Joyce on a count of murder.
Hamilton County court records show police filed an affidavit and warrant for Hyde’s arrest on Feb. 20 for domestic violence.
According to WXIX-TV, Hyde allegedly punched and hit Joyce’s mother and called her an expletive while they were driving. Cincinnati Police reportedly wanted the court to issue a temporary protective order on behalf of the mother.
Joyce allegedly fired 12 shots at his mother’s boyfriend during the incident. WXIX reports the teen will have a hearing to determine whether he will be tried in adult court.
