Funeral services for Raymond “Red” Fuhrer, 99, of Mobridge will be at 10 AM, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the UCC Church in Mobridge. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Raymond passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at the Mobridge Regional Hospital. Services will be live-streamed on the Kesling Funeral Home Facebook page.
Raymond (Red) Fuhrer was born to Albert and Emma (Korb) Fuhrer on Oct 21, 1925. He attended school in Isabel, S.D. He married Edna Badure in 1945. Red enlisted in the Army during WWII. After basic and mechanics training, he was stationed in Manila, Philippines, until the end of the war. Stella was born in 1946 and Parnell in 1949. He then lived on the Isabel family farm until they moved to Mobridge in the early 50’s where he worked construction.
On Jan 3rd, 1970, Raymond married Lucille Flemmer. Son Robin Fuhrer resides in Mobridge. They were married for 46 years. Red worked for SD Dept of Transportation from 1959 until his retirement in 1987. Lucille passed away in July 2016.
Red then moved to Prairie Sunset Village where he made many friends with staff and residents.
Raymond is survived by children, Stella Bertsch, Parnell (Sandy) Fuhrer, and Robin (Jean) Fuhrer; brother-in-law, Larry Flemmer, grandchildren, Tamara Mannion, Kathy Pierce, Jennifer, Alicia, Christopher Fuhrer, Robb Bertsch, Toni Schwan and William Fuhrer, 14 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Fuhrer, brothers Leonard, Gilbert, Floyd and Frank Fuhrer; sisters, Helen Bertsch, Dora Christiansen, Martha Waddell
