New Jersey Mother Without Valid License Runs Over, Kills 10-month-old Baby in Driveway – Crime Online

A New Jersey mother is facing charges after she allegedly ran over her son with a car, killing him.

Wendy Castillo-Torres, 30, has been charged with causing a death while driving without a valid license, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

The charge Castillo-Torres was announced on May 17, the same day she allegedly killed her child while washing cars in a friend’s driveway. Jackson Township police responded to the scene shortly after 6 p.m. following a 911 call.

Responding officers rushed the unresponsive 10-month-old infant, who suffered serious injuries, to the Monmouth Medical Center. He was pronounced dead shortly after.

Prosecutor Billhimer reported that Castillo-Torres had put her son in a bouncer seat between two cars while washing them that day. Once she finished, she got into one of the cars to move it but accidentally shifted into drive instead of reverse. Her son, seated in the bouncer between the vehicles, became trapped and was crushed.

Castillo-Torres shifted the car into reverse upon realizing what was happening, but it was too late, the release stated.

As police investigated the incident, they determined that Castillo-Torres didn’t have a valid driver’s license.

“Our investigation indicates that this is a tragic accident, our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time,” Billhimer said.

The victim’s name has not yet been publicly released. Check back for updates.
