Weeks before welcoming baby No. 1, Kristen Doute shed more light on her pregnancy and how her fur babies were reacting to the journey.
The Valley mom and her fiancé, Luke Broderick, share a home with two dogs: a German Shepherd named Jill and a Yorkie named Gibson. Kristen suggested she had no concerns about introducing the pooches to her bundle of joy, as one had been “very protective” throughout the pregnancy, and the other was, well, indifferent or oblivious.

“So my Yorkie, Gibson, zero F’s, you know? Does not care,” Kristen told The Daily Dish. “I try to show him there’s a baby right here and point to my stomach, and he thinks I’m talking about his toy that we call baby. So, he just has no idea.”
Jill, however, seemed to be much more aware, as she became increasingly attentive to Kristen throughout the pregnancy.
“Since the second I was pregnant, she’s had her head on my stomach,” the Vanderpump Rules alum said about the German Shepherd. “It’s crazy because I was hoping to get one of those Instagram videos where the dog has the head on the stomach and then the baby kicks and you see the dog’s reaction. And she doesn’t react. So, I think she just knows. She’s very, very protective of me, though. She doesn’t like strangers coming near me or talking to me… She knows, for sure.”
Kristen’s dog Bowie passed away in April 2024, months before she became pregnant.
Luke Broderick reveals what he’s looking forward to as a dad
Kristen gave birth to her daughter, Kaia Lily, on Wednesday, June 11, nearly seven months after confirming her pregnancy. Luke told The Daily Dish he was looking forward to taking on a dad role and was eager to introduce their daughter to all of his outdoor hobbies and passions.
“I can’t wait to strap a mini-me to my body and just continue doing a bunch of cool stuff,” he said. “Kristen and I will definitely give our daughter a lot of different experiences. She and I come from two different worlds, you know, as adults, and I can’t wait to have her out in Colorado. And when she’s up and walking, I’m going to introduce her to everything I love to do, and hopefully, there’s some overlap… Whether it’s fishing, hiking, golfing, anything outside, hopefully she likes doing something with me.”

Kristen and Luke got engaged roughly 10 months ago during a romantic getaway in Hawaii. The couple said their daughter’s name reflected their ties to the Aloha State, as “Kaia” translates to “sea” in Hawaiian.
“We knew we wanted our baby name to have something to do, or revolve around, water,” Kristen told Us Weekly. “Lilies are my favorite flower. They’re associated with new beginnings, beauty, and also the name Lily indicates a ‘gentle and compassionate nature, suggesting a kind and caring personality.’”
