A Louisiana woman was charged with the shooting death of her ex-boyfriend along with two men police say she allegedly recruited to kill him.

A superseding indictment was filed on June 5 in connection to the January shooting death of Jonathan Brookin, 32. Police said that Brookin, a father of five children, was gunned down by three men during a confrontation with his ex-girlfriend, Subrina Honore, 32. The former couple had reportedly been arguing about the paternity of her baby, which she claimed was Brookin’s. According to court records obtained by local news outlet Nola.com, Honore allegedly made threats against Brookin on social media, including a post from the day he died that read, “I got time today, [expletive]. I’m coming to your house.”

According to court records, Brookin was at his home of a female friend on Jan. 27 along with her two children, ages 5 and 6 years old. At around 6 p.m. that day, the friend told police that Honore showed up to the house, reportedly angry about a birth certificate for the baby she believed she had with Brookin.

The woman told investigators that Brookin was in the home’s garage with the door open while she was in another part of the house. At some point, she heard Brookin begin to argue with another woman, later identified as Honore. During a court hearing in connection to the case in February, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detective Ryan Vaught stated that Brookin may not have been in possession of the birth certificate to begin with.

Vaught also told the court that the woman and Brookin asked Honore to leave several times, and Honore reportedly refused. At that point, Vaught stated, the woman said that she saw two men — including Arthur Thomas, 31 — get out of a nearby car, both of them carrying guns. The woman ran inside the house to hide with her children.
