A Louisiana man was charged with murdering his own mother after police said he confessed to injecting her with methamphetamine and beating her to death.
Aaron Lloyd, 33, was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail after authorities with the Opelousas Police Department questioned him about the death of his mother, 65-year-old Lisa Lloyd. According to police, neighbors on Park Circle in Opelousas found Lisa Lloyd”s body in a trash can on Sunday and reported it to authorities. In a Facebook post announcing the arrest, police also said “a male subject had admitted to killing his mother and placing her body in a trash can at the location.”
Police said that they located Aaron Lloyd at another residence and took him to the police department for questioning.
According to police, Aaron Lloyd did not put up much of a fight during questioning. After being taken into custody without incident, he reportedly admitted to police that he injected Lisa Lloyd with methamphetamine before beating her to death.
While police did not explicitly identify Aaron Lloyd as the “male subject” who called, that caller reportedly said that he not only killed “his mother” but also stowed her dead body in a garbage can. The garbage can and the body were found underneath the carport of Lisa Lloyd’s home on Park Circle.
A motive for the alleged murder was not provided.
Aaron Lloyd was charged with first-degree murder, aggravated second-degree battery, obstruction of justice, failure to seek assistance, and distribution of schedule II drugs. According to police, he was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail, and the police department confirmed to Law&Crime that he is still in custody and bail had not yet been set as of Tuesday afternoon.
In a statement, Opelousas Police Chief Graig LeBlanc called the case “deeply tragic,” adding, “We ask that everyone keep the Lloyd family lifted in prayer during this incredibly difficult time.”
Anderson also told local NBC affiliate KADN that Aaron Lloyd “did admit to the crime.” He said, “We really, right now, ask for prayers for the family. This is a tragic situation that has now fallen on our community. This is literally a son and a mother, and we ask for prayers at this time for the Lloyd family.”
According to KADN, Opelousas police stated that the investigation is ongoing.
