KENDALL COUNTY, Ill. (TCN) —Â A woman will spend three decades behind bars for killing her girlfriend nearly two years ago following an argument.
According to a July 10 news release from the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office, Alexia Telles entered a plea agreement, and a judge sentenced her to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for first-degree murder. She’ll have to serve 100% of the sentence, as well as three years of mandatory supervised release.
In February 2023, Telles reportedly arrived at a home in Oswego with her girlfriend, Annissa Ellen-Williams, who had suffered a traumatic head wound. Medical personnel tried to revive Ellen-Williams, but she was later pronounced deceased.
According to prosecutors, authorities determined Telles got into an argument while Ellen-Williams was driving. Telles reportedly intentionally killed her girlfriend and tried to make her death look like a suicide.
Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis said, “These cases can be difficult to prosecute because only two people know exactly what occurred that fateful night. However, the investigative work done by law enforcement and the Coroner’s Office led to the successful prosecution of Telles for the murder of Ms. Ellen-Williams.”
Weis continued, “This sentence ensures that justice is served, and the victim’s family does not have to endure the pain of a trial. Telles has accepted responsibility for the heartless act she committed against someone she professed to care so much for.”
