The Real Housewives of Miami alum Lea Black’s husband, famed attorney Roy Black, has passed away at the age of 80. The Miami Herald reported the news of his passing, confirming that he died on Monday, July 21 at home in Coral Gables after an illness.

Roy Black, who was from New York and later moved to Miami for college and law school, is survived by Lea, their son, RJ, and his daughter, Nora, from a previous marriage. He was a famed criminal defense attorney who represented high-profile clients during his career. He also wrote a book, Black’s Law, released in 1999. The outlet notes that he worked at his law firm on Biscayne Boulevard until his death.
His partner at the law firm spoke about his passing to the publication. “Roy Black was the greatest criminal lawyer of our generation, perhaps in American history, achieving acquittals over a span of 50 years in some of the most challenging and notorious cases of all time,” his law partner, Howard Srebnick, said.

Lea married Roy in 1994. According to his online bio, they met after she was a juror on one of his trials in the 90’s. In 2012, she opened up about her marriage to the lawyer. “Roy, as busy as he is, even takes time to check out the Real Housewives,” she told Reality TV Magazine at the time. “It’s great being able to have your life captured and at the very least we can laugh about it together!”
During the course of her marriage to Roy, Lea often posted looks at their relationship, which often included them attending parties and events. “Love never goes out of style, and neither do sweet memories,” she wrote in February of this year, alongside a red carpet photo of her and Roy.

Who is Roy Black and Lea Black’s son, RJ?
Together they have one son, RJ, who is now in his 20s. He appears to live a more private life than his parents and Lea hasn’t posted photos of him in several years to her Instagram. In the past, RJ and his dad appeared alongside Lea on RHOM.
