‘American Idol’ Exec. & Husband Were Fatally Shot by Own Gun Before Suspect Called 911 Himself – Crime Online

A California couple who were found dead in their home earlier this month were fatally shot by their own gun.

Suspect Raymond Boodarian, 22, allegedly killed “American Idol” music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, Tom DeLuca, both 70, at their Encino home during an attempted burglary. Though Boodarian called the police after the slayings and identified himself, Kaye and DeLuca’s bodies were not discovered until July 10 — four days later, according to

“The DA pissed off a lot of people [working the case] in the DA’s office and in the police department [by sharing the information about the gun in the town hall meeting],” a source told CBS, claiming Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman’s comments suggested Kaye and DeLuca knew their killer. “They did not know each other and that’s definitive.”

According to The Los Angeles Times, two 911 calls were reportedly placed the day of the slayings. The first, placed by a resident, indicated that an unknown person was trying to break into the home. Forty minutes later, someone called from inside the couple’s house claiming to be a resident who witnessed a suspect breaking in. The caller was also heard saying, “Please don’t shoot me.”

It is unclear whether the second call was Boodarian claiming to be a resident.

It was not until four days later, when family members requested a welfare check, that Kaye and DeLuca’s bodies were discovered. Sources told People that police found blood at the front door and entered via a shattered glass sliding door at the back of the home.

DeLuca was found in the bathroom, while Kaye was in the pantry. Both had been shot in the head.

Boodarian was arrested without incident on July 15. He was charged with murder, burglary, personal discharge of a firearm, and murder while engaging in robbery.
