BURBANK, Calif. (TCN) — A suspected serial butt sniffer is behind bars again for allegedly engaging in lewd behavior behind a female customer at a store.
According to the Burbank Police Department, on July 22, officers received a report of a suspicious individual loitering in the women’s department of the Nordstrom Rack on North Victory Place. Police learned the suspect, 38-year-old Calese Crowder, left, and they located him at a nearby Walmart.
Investigators obtained surveillance footage that allegedly showed Crowder “following a female customer” in the women’s section, “crouching near her, and engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks.”
Authorities arrested Crowder, a registered sex offender currently on parole, and he faces one count of loitering with intent to commit a crime. He remains held on $100,000 bail and is set to appear in court on Aug. 1.
Crowder reportedly has a history of similar arrests in the area dating back several years. According to the Glendale Police Department, officers arrested him in September 2021 on suspicion of “prowling” and peeping into various windows on multiple occasions.
Crowder made national headlines in August 2023 after a 28-year-old victim posted a TikTok video of the suspect allegedly crouching down near her legs at a Barnes & Noble, KTLA-TV reports. He is accused of doing the same thing to another woman who was shopping nearby.
According to KTLA, Crowder was arrested that month for allegedly peeping into an occupied home in Glendale but was released due to a jail overcrowding issue. However, authorities arrested him again after he failed to register with local law enforcement.
