What Happened to Drunken Charter Guest Kelly on Below Deck?

Below Deck‘s Captain Kerry Titheradge is hopeful that things will be smooth sailing now that “extremely drunk” charter guest Kelly has exited St. David.

Season 12, Episode 10 of the series picked back up with the arrival of French police who were tasked with escorting Kelly ashore to “sleep it off” in a hotel room for the night. Co-primary Helen agreed to accompany her friend, on the condition that she could return to the vessel the following morning to resume her vacation.

As the two women left the yacht, Kelly, who was still wearing only her bikini, continued to shout obscenities about Captain Kerry, as she searched for a bag that was already on her shoulder.

“You can’t have fun,” she complained. “I just want to go on the banana boat, that’s all I want to do.”

Once she was gone, Kerry debriefed his crew on what happened to Kelly and explained that they would be picking up Helen the next morning.

“She went from zero to a thousand in a moment,” he added in a confessional. “I’ve never seen someone this out of control before. And she just got more and more aggressive, which makes everyone’s safety at risk. It had to be done.”

How the other charter guests reacted to Kelly’s Below Deck removal

The charter’s other guests were apologetic and seemed to unanimously agree with how Captain Kerry handled Kelly’s “belligerently drunk” behavior, as one of her friends described her actions. Several of them admitted they never even wanted her to come on the trip in the first place.

While talking to Helen on the phone later that day, one of the guests named Brian encouraged the primary to send “crazy” Kelly home and come back to the boat to enjoy her other friends.

The next morning, Helen called Captain Kerry to thank him for managing the situation so masterfully, before returning solo to resume the charter.

“Everybody’s safe and sound,” she further informed him upon re-boarding. “That was exhausting, but she’s safe. You did the right thing, truly, and thank you.”

When Captain Kerry asked if Kelly was “doing all right” now, Helen replied, “I think she’s gonna go into therapy after this. No joke.”

Inside Kelly’s “extremely drunk” behavior on Below Deck

As a quick refresher, Kelly first boarded St. David with her friends on Episode 9, which aired on July 28. Upon her arrival, she drank several glasses of champagne, and the crew noticed that she had become visibly intoxicated. In addition to her shouting and destroying a table centerpiece at lunch, Kelly could “barely hold her glass,” as chief stew Fraser Olender observed.

With Helen’s support, Kerry cut off all alcohol for Kelly at that point, but she still insisted on taking a solo banana boat ride. Recognizing the safety hazard, the Below Deck crew offered her a life vest as she attempted to climb on the tender, but instead of accepting it, she defied the captain’s order and leapt into the sea, while taunting them to chase her.

Once she agreed to come back aboard, Kelly became “violent” and scratched Captain Kerry while physically resisting his and the crew’s attempts to usher her back inside. While shouting various insults, she also threatened to use her FBI “connections” against him.

When even her friends were unable to calm her down and diffuse the situation, Kerry put the yacht on lockdown and called the cops to assist in removing Kelly from the vessel.

Captain Kerry Titheradge reflects on the Kelly incident

After Episode 9 aired, Captain Kerry broke down his handling of the Kelly situation via Instagram on July 31.

“Leadership isn’t just about steering the yacht—it’s about protecting everyone on board,” he began his post’s caption. “On this charter, things escalated fast. Kelly’s drinking got out of control, and I had to make a tough call—cut off alcohol, contain the situation, and prioritize the safety of every guest and crew member.”

Explaining that they blocked off exits because he was “genuinely concerned she might jump overboard and hurt herself,” he insisted that this move was “about preventing a tragedy,” rather than a punishment.

“Mental health, emotional regulation, and leadership under pressure… all came into play here,” Kerry continued. “I stand by every decision. And I stand by my crew, who handled this moment with strength and professionalism.”

Despite Kelly threatening him and calling him names, the captain further revealed in the comments section of another post that he shared to his IG grid as a collaborator that he has since forgiven Kelly. What’s more, Kerry and Kelly recently reunited, along with another one of the other charter guests, in Rhode Island.

“I believe in second chances and the possibility of growth,” Captain Kerry wrote.
