A New York woman found dead aboard a boat in Suffolk County August 5 has been identified as a Manhattan designer.
According to a Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office press release, police arrived at the Montauk Yacht Club at midnight Tuesday, on Star Island Road, after receiving a report of an “unconscious” woman on a docked boat.
Despite attempts by “good Samaritans” to revive her using CPR, their efforts were not successful.
First responders pronounced the victim, Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra, 33, deceased at the scene. A preliminary examination revealed inconclusive results on the cause of death.
According to NBC News, Nolan-O’Slatarra was the East x East clothing brand founder and the director of operations for K IV Capital Management in New York.
Originally from Ireland, Nolan-O’Slatarra told the Irish Independent in 2024 that she moved to New York to follow her ambitions.
“I was the small town girl who needed to get out to achieve her big dreams,” she said.
“I always knew I wanted to be successful, that I was money-driven, business-driven – and that fashion is a tough industry and it would be a slow road.”
She launched East x East in the Hamptons in 2023, according to the New York Post.

Residents in the area described Nolan-O’Slatarra as kind and welcoming.
“She was well known in the community. She was very friendly. Always smiling,” a resident told the Post, “There’s going to be a lot of conversation out of this.”
Meanwhile, some members of the yacht club told the Post that they heard screaming coming from the docks late Monday night.
Crime scene investigators were reportedly at the scene throughout the night Monday, along with a Suffolk County Crime Laboratory van.
Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are currently investigating the case, according to the sheriff’s office.
