Kate Chastain and her son, Sullivan Cay, are settling into their “dream home” in Florida, and she’s making sure to add a few touches. However, the Below Deck alum hadn’t anticipated that the bungalow home’s latest feature would be a spot-on match to her personal style.
Kate posted an Instagram Story recently, which showed her in a black-and-white, horizontally striped button-down dress. In the mirror selfie — as Sullivan played nearby — she held up the home’s new awnings, its colors and spacing a perfect (and we mean perfect) match to what she wore.
“I didn’t even plan this, but on my way out the door, I noticed I exactly matched the awnings I was having installed yesterday,” she captioned with a loud-crying face emoji.
She then shared a second snap of an entrance to her home with the vertically striped awnings displayed on each side of the door. Exterior outdoor lanterns and palm trees accentuated the light green-colored home and its red roof tiles. Still, Kate said it was a work in progress. “Still have to change the trim color but LOVE my new awnings,” she posted. “It felt like my house needed lashes.”
Kate Chastain discusses why she loves her Florida home
The former chief stew announced earlier this year that she was the “proud new owner of [her] dream home,” adding she was “never moving again.”

In an interview with Bravo’s The Daily Dish, Kate offered exclusive details (and photos) of her “historic, beautiful home.” She said she was particularly charmed by the character that came with a 100-year-old home.
“I think what makes this house special is I’m not a person who likes modern interior design. Like [Below Deck alum] Ben Robinson, for example, loves modern,” she said. “I feel like it’s cold and too perfect. I like something with a little personality, a little imperfection. [It] makes it interesting and beautiful. I’m just really happy.”
Before having Sullivan, Kate lived in an apartment in Manhattan’s West Village before moving into a craftsman bungalow in Fort Lauderdale in March 2023 to live closer to her family, just months before Sullivan Cay’s birth.
Kate’s home is a stunner in the photos she provided, from wooden staircases to tons of natural lighting. She explained that the home’s previous owner had completed major renovations, adding that it was like having an interior designer.

“I love her style,” Kate said in her interview. “She did the work, and then I get to reap the benefits.”
Kate Chastain wants this to be Sullivan Cay’s forever home
With family at the forefront, Kate hoped the new home would be where she raised Sullivan Cay. “Especially now that Sullivan’s getting older, I’m really excited to do a little height chart on his door frame,” she told The Daily Dish. “’Cause I know we’re gonna be here for that many years to chart his growth, so that’s just really exciting and moving is exhausting, so I’m happy to not be doing that for a long time.”
Sullivan Cay already has his very own playroom, at least when he decides he doesn’t want to play on the trampoline.
