GEORGETOWN, S.C. (TCN) — A man was recently convicted of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend and a friend nearly three years ago.
According to the 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office, a jury found 45-year-old Ronnie Todd Jr. guilty on Aug. 11 of two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of John Altman and Emily Richitelli. A judge sentenced Todd to two life sentences.
Authorities said Todd fatally shot Altman and Richitelli on July 21, 2022, at townhomes on Fraser Street. According to WCSC-TV, the defendant used to date Richitelli and was a friend of Altman.
Prosecutors reportedly described Todd as jealous. In text messages presented to jurors, Todd allegedly wrote to friends days before the shooting, “I will blow their brains out and burn down the house,” and “I’m killing some people when I get home. No question about that. I love her, and it’s over.”
During the trial, Altman’s son reportedly said he hid in the bathroom during the shooting. According to WCSC, the son said he heard his father say Todd’s name, and he recognized the voices. The victim’s son purportedly waited until it was safe and then went to a neighbor’s home to call 911.
