After two days of dealing with demanding guests and even a call to the police for one unmanageable passenger, it’s no surprise the crew was eager to see the end of one particular charter on Season 12 of Below Deck.
“I’m so thankful they’re leaving,” stew Rainbeau de Roos confessed on Episode 11. “They were so high maintenance. Like, beach picnic, eight-course meal, and the crazy b—h you brought with you—yeah.”
The primary charter guest, Helen, believed the trip had been a success. “I don’t have one complaint about any of you,” she announced with a smile as she and her guests departed St. David.
When the crew gathered with Captain Kerry Titheradge in the sky lounge for a tip meeting, he praised how they handled the charter’s challenges.
“This charter, the first day was a big day for all of us,” he said on the August 11 episode. “Dealing with that lady. I know we did very well for what we’re dealing with. And I’m very happy how everyone came together.”
But the crew was left stunned and silent when Kerry announced the tip was $22,000, which equates to $1,692 for each crew member.
“I would’ve expected more, for what we had to go through,” Kerry admitted, and later added, “I mean, it was a lot. But you all managed really well. So hats off to everybody.”

Deckhand Damo Yorg was among the crew members who felt slighted.
“I thought they were better than that,” he said. “We f—king busted our asses for these guys. I mean, [Kyle] Stillie was used as a buoyancy device. Like we’re going above and beyond. Not great.”
Why did a charter guest get kicked off the yacht in Below Deck Season 12?
The Below Deck crew quickly had their hands full when a new charter began in Episode 9, as the primary guest Helen’s friend, Kelly, overindulged in champagne. Kerry told Helen and her husband he was “gonna have to cut off Kelly,” but Kelly’s behavior continued to worsen. It became a safety hazard when she insisted on taking a banana boat ride, refused a life vest, and jumped in the water despite Kerry’s instructions to stay on dry land.
“Her jumping in the water right now, that’s a big f–k you,” Captain Kerry said in the July 28 episode. “When I ask you specifically not to do something and you go right against what I say, we’ve got a friggin’ problem.”
As Kelly continued to fight the crew and Kerry, he told her, “You’re off the boat,” and decided to call for police assistance.
“I’ve tried every avenue to calm her down. Her friends aren’t talking her down; she’s tried to attack me; she’s threatened me; she’s extremely drunk; she could fall and hurt herself; she could drown. I’m gonna do what it takes to keep her safe,” Kerry explained.
Eventually, the police escorted Kelly and Helen to shore, and only Helen returned the following day.
Details on the Below Deck crew’s tip issues throughout Season 12
The tip given to the crew in Episode 11 wasn’t the first that caught the crew off guard this season. In Episode 4, Kerry informed the crew that they had received a “pathetic” tip of $19,990 after a five-day charter.
The crew was beyond disappointed, with deckhands Damo Yorg and Kyle Stillie declaring, “We got shafted.”
However, things turned around in Episode 7, when they received a $27,500 tip, which Kerry called “incredible.”
Still, Rainbeau de Roos had a surprising response to the amount.
“It’s a good, average, solid tip. Average sized. Who doesn’t love average sized? Doesn’t need to be ginormous,” she told a producer before bursting into laughter.
