Emily Simpson and her husband, Shane Simpson, have made “a lot” of renovations to their Orange County home. Although things might still be a work in progress for The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member’s house upgrades, she is finally showing off the product of her hard work so far.
Emily and Shane recently gave a tour of their renovated house to BravoTV.com, where they showed off the before and after reveals of their home’s changes. “We’ve done a lot of renovations over the past — I don’t know, how long has it been since we’ve been on TV? 8 years? 7 years?” she asked in the video above.
Emily and Shane first showed off the very front area in their house, which is a little sitting area, complete with a piano. “We changed the flooring, it was travertine. So now we have upgraded flooring,” Emily explained, as Shane sat on one of the couches. “The fireplace is different. I’m not sure how I feel about it.”

Emily then took the cameras into her dining room, where they had a full wall installed. But Emily admitted that most people tend to overlook that area of the house. “This is, I guess you would say, the formal dining room that no one ever uses,” she explained.
“Well, we’ve been trying to, lately,” Shane added.

The couple also showed off their family room, a space where they spend a lot of time with their three kids. They made some major renovations to make it a little more family-friendly. “It had a fireplace, and this big stone ledge for kids to get injured on,” Shane explained. “It was very heavy and dark, and it didn’t have room for a TV.”
They took out the fireplace, replacing it with a TV console, and giving everything a fresh coat of bright, white paint. “It’s lighter and brighter,” Emily noted.

They also remodeled the kitchen, which they “originally” wanted to “rip out” and “start over” from scratch. But, instead, they opted to make additions to it, while brightening it up with paint and different countertops. Emily revealed that they kept the kitchen cabinets and their butler’s pantry, but made one simple but big improvement to the kitchen island.
“We added this huge countertop with the overhang so that we could put the stools,” Emily explained.Â

More recently, Emily revealed that they renovated their laundry room, which was “very 90s before,” according to Emily. They did so by changing out the cabinets and adding a much larger countertop for more space to fold clothes. Upstairs in the house, they also renovated their daughter Annabelle’s bathroom.
Emily Simpson opens up about her “last” remodeling projects
One space they haven’t gotten around to remodeling? Their primary bathroom, attached to their bedroom. “This is the last bathroom to remodel. I saved it for last because this is going to be huge. We’re going to have to rip everything out,” she noted.
This bathroom is complete with Roman columns over its bathtub and a shower area, covered in glass block. Emily also admitted that she wants to rearrange the closet space to fit more clothes for her and Shane.Â

Emily recently spoke with The Daily Dish, where she outlined her plans for the primary bathroom. “The one room I have left in this entire house is the primary bathroom and it’s huge — but it looks like The Sopranos,” she explained. “It’s just dark and has columns and, I mean, the house was built in ’98 and it hasn’t been updated, so it’s like, I don’t even want to hang anything nice in there, or like, even make it pretty because it’s so outdated. But that’s next. I’m gonna do that soon.”
Emily Simpson reveals why her house renovations have taken so long
She continued, admitting why things in the house have been a work in progress for so long. “I have to take breaks in between every major project because it’s so much time and energy, and you can’t use that part of the house, and it’s dusty, and it’s dirty,” she told The Daily Dish.Â

“And there’s contractors coming in every day, and so I’m — then I need a break,” she said with a laugh. “So, then I have to like, build myself up, cause I’m like, ‘Ugh, we have to go through this again.'”
