Aesha Scott admits she wasn’t thrilled with her hair change for Below Deck Mediterranean Season 10 — so much so that she jokingly urged fans to watch the episodes “with their eyes closed.”
“It just really wasn’t the season for me,” she said during a sitdown with Entertainment Tonight.

As seen in the September 29 premiere, the longtime yachtie entered the charter season with a dramatic hair chop and noticeably lighter locks. Aesha said she decided to switch up her look in the weeks before production kicked off, as she simply grew tired of the long brown hair she had rocked in the previous seasons.

“I just had this day where I was like, ‘You basic b—h, you’ve been on this show for how many years? And the whole time you’ve had long brown hair. Get a personality! Do something!’” she recalled with a laugh. “So I was like, ‘I’m gonna cut it and completely change the color.’”

So, what did she do? She got a blonde bob that “was probably a little bit too short.” Aesha said the cut was followed by a series of hair treatments that resulted in a “streaked bleached” look. And although she had wanted a big change, Aesha confessed she regretted the update right before the Below Deck Med cameras went up.

“I looked in the mirror and I was like, ‘You look so sick,’” she said. “The way it set with my complexion, I looked like I had some sort of disease or something… It really wasn’t sitting well. So two days before we started filming, I freaked out, and I had to dye it.”
Aesha said she went to the store, purchased a box of dye, and immediately applied it to her locks; however, she had no idea that the pre-existing bleach would prevent the at-home dye from fully working.
“It was a technicolor dreamcoat of like blonde and red and brown,” Aesha explained.
The chief steward said she eventually received another dye job during the charter season, but felt the color was “too dark.”
Aesha Scott jokingly apologizes for her “hair nightmare”
She made similar comments in a recent interview with Vulture, saying she struggled to watch herself in the Season 10 premiere.
“Can I just say, by the way, I’ve also just watched the first episode,” she told the outlet, “and I really have to stress: This is literally the ugliest season I have ever done because I was having an absolute hair nightmare, so when I watch it, all I can see is my hair. It looks so bad, so I want to apologize for that.”
Aesha is now gearing up to tie the knot with her longtime beau, Scott Dobson. Find out when the couple plans to exchange “I do’s,” and which of Aesha’s fellow yachties are invited to the wedding.
