Alabama Teen’s Dad Arrested for Her Murder – Crime Online

The father of a 14-year-old Alabama girl reported missing nearly 12 years ago has been charged with her death.

Mobile Police Cpl. Katrina Frazier said a Mobile County grand jury indicted Demetric Hooper on murder charges in the death of Brittany Robinson, AL.com reported.

Hooper is in jail in Oklahoma City on unrelated charges but will be extradited to Alabama to face trial in his daughter’s death, Frazier said.

Hooper was the last person seen with Robinson, who was reported missing by her mother on June 22, 2012, when Hooper didn’t bring her home after his court ordered visitation period was over. Robinson’s mother, Tiana Hogue, said the girl was last seen on June 14. Police said Hooper’s home was empty when they arrived after Hogue reported her daughter missing.

Investigators charged Hooper with interfering with custody and tracked him to Arkansas, where he had checked himself into a mental health facility. He initially pleaded not guilty to the charge but two years later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Hogue said in a Change.org petition that he was released in December 2016 after serving just two years.

Frazier declined to say whether investigators had found Robinson’s body or what evidence they may have leading to the murder charge. She said the case “has remained an active part of our cold case investigations.”
