Alex McCord recently reunited with her “sister wife,” Dorinda Medley virtually. Although The Real Housewives of New York City alums never overlapped during their time on the show, they are still close to this day, even with Alex currently living in Australia.
Both Alex and Dorinda made a surprise appearance on the podcast, Go Fact Yourself, on Dec. 13, where Dorinda opened up about their connection. “I just said, we’ve never really had lunch and stuff, but I said, ‘Once you’re a housewife, when you see each other, you’re happy to see each other,'” she explained.
“I think we saw each other several times in scenes and things,” Dorinda admitted, noting it’s like being “in the mafia.”
“Or some weird sorority, like Kappa Kappa Housewife,” Alex added.
Alex then took to her Instagram Story the week the podcast came out, where she shared a look at the episode and opened up about her friendship with Dorinda. “Joined sister wife [Dorinda Medley] on [Go Fact Yourself] — fun!!” she wrote in the caption of the post.

Alex McCord opens up about receiving her PhD in Clinical Psychology
Alex took to Instagram on November 16, where she revealed that she had received her PhD in Clinical Psychology, officially making her Dr. Alex McCord. “Degree of Doctor of Philosophy, Clinical Psychology = conferred!” she wrote in the caption of the post.
“Of course there will be an in-person ceremony with a big hat and much celebration next May, but for now…IT’S DONE,” she concluded.
During her appearance on the podcast, Alex also opened up about her research that she has done during her journey to receiving her PhD. “The stage 3 of my research will be published in The Journal of Eating Disorders, which is an imprint of Springer Nature. My topic is supporting caregivers who have a child or adolescent going through eating disorder treatment,” she explained. “The thing about eating disorder treatment for young people is that it’s quite rigid, it’s quite fixed, and sometimes caregivers can’t cope with that.”
“So I’ve created an assessment measure to work out strengths and challenges for each caregiver, called the CareFit, so that we can fit the care to the caregiver to support treatment, engagement, completion, and remission rates.”

She also took to Instagram in September, where she showed off her laptop with her research on it. “The final stage of my PhD research has been published, with a new tool designed to help identify what extra supports individual families in eating disorder treatment might need, so treatment options can be tailored,” she wrote in the caption of the post.
Alex McCord shares updates on her marriage to her husband, Simon van Kempen
Alex’s relationship with her husband, Simon van Kempen, is also still going so strong. Both Alex and Simon have been married for 25 years, and are still finding ways to keep the spark alive. Alex took to Instagram on Oct. 18, where she posted a selfie of her and Simon attending a performance of RENT at the Sydney Opera House.
