GREGG COUNTY, Texas (TCN) —Â Authorities recently arrested a man on suspicion of killing his teenage girlfriend and her father before allegedly trying to harm himself.
According to the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office, on Sep. 1, deputies responded to Hugh Camp Park in Liberty City to a report of a possible shooting. At the scene, emergency medical services personnel began lifesaving measures on two victims, later identified as 16-year-old Hailey Blake and her father, 49-year-old Shawn Blake. They were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The sheriff’s office identified Hailey Blake’s alleged boyfriend, Christopher Hicks Jr., as the primary suspect. He was transported to a hospital with critical injuries that appear to be self-inflicted. Authorities suspect it was a “targeted attack.”
According to KLTV-TV, Hailey Blake was a student at Sabine High School.
In a statement, the school district said, “We are saddened to share that there was an incident today in our community that resulted in the passing of a Sabine High School student.”
