PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. (TCN) —Â A 61-year-old woman was allegedly caught on camera stealing items from a gravesite.
According to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, in April, multiple individuals reported that various items had disappeared from loved ones’ graves at Etoniah Cemetery. Family members reportedly installed cameras near the gravesites to investigate further.
On surveillance, Katherine Taylor was allegedly seen with a wind chime from a grave as she tried to steal another one.
Detectives spoke with Taylor at her home and discovered some of the stolen items in her landscaping. She reportedly told deputies that she had previously been caught stealing from graves.
According to the sheriff’s office, Taylor had been charged in 2020 for larceny related to a theft from East Oak Hill Cemetery in Palatka.
On May 27, authorities arrested Taylor on two counts of criminal mischief damaging property. She was released on bond the following day, according to records.
