Amir Boroumand Opens Up About His First Wife’s Death

Amir Boroumand shared the heartbreaking details of how his first wife died on The Valley: Persian Style.

How to Watch

The Valley Persian Style premieres Thursday, January 8 at 9/8c on Bravo. Episodes stream next day on Peacock.

During a guys’ night in the Season 1 premiere, host Greg Haroutunian brought up that Amir had been married before he met his current wife, Natasha Kashanian.

“Yeah, my first wife, she passed away,” Amir told the group. “She was young. She had cancer. It just came out of nowhere.”

The tax attorney went on to tearfully describe how his “brave” late wife had been undergoing inpatient chemotherapy treatments that her doctor thought “might be working.” He said that she’d even been planning their joint birthday party — since they were born less than a week apart — when she died, days before the celebration.

“The finality of it was so overwhelming,” Amir added. “I remember it so f–king vividly. Every day, just waking up like, I can’t believe this is f–king real.”

He also opened up about some of the difficult conversations he and his late wife had, prior to her death.

“She would always say, ‘You’re not the one that has cancer; I do,” Amir recalled. “She was like, ‘I want you to move on and I want you to have a good life.’ She was a great person. … Everything that’s coming in my life is because of her. So, I was like, I’m not gonna take this life for granted.”

How Amir Boroumand’s first wife’s death “changed” him

In a confessional, Amir further unpacked how the painful loss impacted his life today.

“It’s a big part of who I am,” he explained to a producer. “It’s difficult because you don’t want to talk about it, but I also don’t want to be, like, pitied or looked at differently because of it.”

Amir, who shares three children with Natasha, continued, “Her passing changed me a lot. Even now with Natasha, there’s definitely a lot of anxiety, a lot of pressure. I’m scared for the kids. When they get [a] cold, when they get sick, [I’m] like, ‘How serious is this?’ So, we go to the doctor a lot. But it provides a peace of mind for me that I need.”

He concluded, “Taking on, like, working and helping the kids, being there for Natasha and doing that stuff, is possible because I know what real work and real pain feels like.”

Details on Amir Boroumand and Natasha Kashanian’s family life

Elsewhere in the Jan. 8 series premiere, Amir and Natasha also shared happier details on their “great” family life today.

The couple said that they met at a mutual pal’s dentist’s office where Natasha worked, at the time.

“My friend said, ‘Hey, I hired this girl’ and showed me a picture of her,” Amir recounted, before joking, “And I was like, ‘Holy s–t, my tooth hurts. … Best decision, getting my teeth cleaned.”

Natasha, for her part added, “We always talk about this, how it was, like, perfect timing, because I was like, ‘The next guy I meet … he’s, like, gonna be my husband.’ I still have the, like, Post-it that he wrote his number on.”

The rest is history, of course, and now Amir and Natasha are parents to sons Kayden, 5, Roman, 4, and one-year-old daughter Sienna.

“Having three kids under five, it’s exhausting,” Amir admitted in a joint confessional, while Natasha revealed that she does not want any more kids — and will not be changing her mind.

Their Season 1 bio teased even more intel on what’s ahead: “Though they try to prioritize their marriage, Natasha and Amir find that balancing a full life while raising young children is not always easy.”

In the meantime, don’t miss a full breakdown of what to expect on The Valley: Persian Style Season 1.
