‘You can still dye your hair’

A person wrote, “She looks 10 yrs older than she is. Give me a break. This is purposeful. Easy remedy ….just a box of hair color would do wonders.” The second person said, “Wow, she looks older than my Mum at 82yrs young. My mother has hardly ever worn makeup, so her skin looks so much younger than Andie’s. Great that she has started to go all-natural, but she really looks older than 65yrs.”

“65 is relatively young. You don’t have to do medical stuff to your face, Botox, fillers, surgeries, etc. But, to me, you can still dye your hair. Grey hair can make you look older than you really are. And she is really really pretty. Why age yourself when you do not have to,” the third one noted.

The fourth one shared, “GROWING old gracefully yes… But giving up…and just being, nah. I would still keep my beauty regimen intact .. That’s just me… I’ve known WOMEN well in their 80s still doing make-up and THEIR hair… Eating well AND exercising…” “Her beautiful hair was always her crowning glory. Why not color it, she looks older than her years and she doesn’t have to. She is a beautiful woman,” the fifth one added.

I want to be old

However, MacDowell is not worried about people’s opinions since, in March, she told TODAY, “Why is there so much shame attached to getting older? We’re towards the end. We have no time to waste feeling shame.”

‘The Way Home’ star also disclosed her reason for not coloring her locks. She said, “It looks good on me. As it was growing out, my eyes popped. The color of them looked a little different. I liked the way my skin looked better. And there was a feeling. It empowered me more,” before mentioning, “It makes me laugh when someone says it makes me look older. You know I’m going to be 65. What do you think, I look 75 just because I let my hair go?”

MacDowell added, “I want to be old. I’m tired of trying to be young. I don’t want to be young. I’ve been young. And to be an older person trying to be young, what an effort. That’s a lot of effort. I’m already working on staying in shape, taking good care of my body, nourishing my skin, working on my brain. How much can I possibly do? I mean, I just can’t keep up the charade.”
