When it comes to his friendship with John Mayer, Andy Cohen has nothing but love for his longtime best friend. And he spilled all about their tight-knit bond when he appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast, where he chatted with the show’s host, Alex Cooper, about what makes his friendship with John so special.
The Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen host explained what it looks like when he and John hang out together. “It is us going to dinner. We always sit on the same side of the booth. We sit next to each other always. That is our spot,” he said. “As the night goes on, find myself sinking into him because he’ll have his arm around me — and I do, and as a matter of fact, we were at the Sunset Tower last week and I was getting so physical with him by the end that he was like, ‘Andy.’ But I was kind of using his body to tell a story about a guy… We were in a puddle of laughter. It ends, and we love each other deeply. We actually do.”
Both Andy and John have addressed speculation about their relationship in the past (yes, they’re just friends). Andy reiterated on the podcast: “I’m not secretly in love with him. No, we love each other. If I could find a gay guy that was him, it would be magic, but you know what? I am so grateful for the love that we have.”

What John Mayer has said about being friends with Andy Cohen
In 2022, John was on hand to honor his “dear friend” Andy when he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. During his speech, he also reiterated how important Andy is not only to pop culture fans but also in his own life.Â
“He’s a Madonna stan and a Deadhead. He’s an A-lister, who parties like a B-lister, with the free spirit of a C-lister,” John said, in part. “I love Andy more than I can tell you. He’s a brilliant human being, a hilarious cohort, a loving son and brother — and more recently he’s become a proud, engaged and deeply devoted father.”
