Andy Cohen Reveals BTS Details on His Reunion Prep

Andy Cohen is very “picky” about his reunion days. In addition to hosting Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Bravo and doing so much else, Andy is an executive producer of the Real Housewives franchises and the Bravo reunion host. But, he likes his reunions to go a particular way, especially since the filming can take all day and night. 

Andy appeared on an episode of Call Her Daddy on Oct. 29, where he further elaborated on this after filming “hundreds of reunions.”

“If I’m going into a reunion, I’m picky about how the day is going to go,” he admitted.

He revealed that he used to have a very rigid reunion day. “It used to be a really big deal for me,” he said. “Leading up to the reunion, hours long prep calls with the producers. Speaking to the women in advance. The morning of, I would take a run. I mean, I was in the thing.”

But, he now focuses on spending time with his two children before heading to work and going with the flow of the reunion day. “I drop my kids off at school,” he added. “I go, I’m like, ‘What color suit do you want me to wear? What is the set?’ I bring three ties.”

But, he also has to prep for the reunion schedule. He continued, sharing that he now takes “one call with the production team, and the network” before the reunion, where he learns about the seating chart, where the reunion is being filmed, and other details.

“I will have notes on the order of the day,” he explained. “Sometimes I’ll say, ‘I don’t think it makes sense to do it this way. X and Y is the elephant in the room. Can we please do it at the top of the day?’ Sometimes we save the biggest mess til the end of the day.”

“And then, day of, it’s game day,” he continued. “I’m ready to play the game. I have done hundreds of reunions at this point.”

But, every reunion is different for Andy. During the podcast, he revealed that he approaches Housewives reunions differently compared to Vanderpump Rules or Southern Charm, because he is “one of their bosses in theory” for the ‘Wives.

“When I’m wearing my Housewives reunion hat, I am trying to be as the most neutral version of myself while also representing what fans are saying, because I know what the fans are saying,” he noted.

“On VPR or Southern Charm or Summer House, I do get in the weeds a little bit with them more, and it’s kind of fun for me,” he continued. “It’s one of the reasons I love those shows and why I think people enjoy watching me doing those shows.”

“I love giving men with Peter Pan syndrome s—t who make bad decisions,” he concluded. “I love it. It’s like a WWHL classic.”
