The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s Angela Oakley had more than new cheating allegations about husband Charles Oakley on her mind when she visited their therapist on the supersized Season 16 finale.
During her session with Dr. Wendy, Angela brought up the five investment properties that she was “desperate” to sell after they landed her $2 million in debt.
“I have all of my money in these houses, and I’m in the ditch about all of ’em,” she shared. “I am like, if I lose ’em, I’ll just lose ’em. It’s just too much.”
As Angela elaborated in an Episode 17 confessional, “These houses have put a strain on our marriage because I’m constantly asking Charles to pump more money into these properties. And now he’s at a point where he doesn’t want to.”
She continued, “We have since reduced the price on all of these homes. I feel like we’ve done all that we can do in order to protect my marriage. Sometimes you have to cut off your finger to save your hand, and that’s what I’m doing.”
Back in therapy, when Dr. Wendy asked what Angela had learned in the process, she responded, “To trust who I trust because I trust Charles and I went against him telling me not to do it. And I definitely feel so bad about that.”
How Angela Oakley learned to “trust” Charles Oakley
Calling Dr. Wendy “the third party in our marriage,” Angela explained that both she and Charles had been seeing her since 2017. “Wendy has been instrumental in helping us stay married through it all,” she said.
That’s to say that the therapist knew first-hand that Angela had “come a long way” since she and Charles briefly separated amid “instances of infidelity” shortly after their 2016 wedding.
“You know how long it took me to even get to a point where I could trust him,” Angela told her, before detailing what happened when a restaurant owner named Marcus approached her with new cheating allegations about Charles at Kelli Ferrell’s cooking event.
“Afterwards, I told Charles what happened,” she continued. “He was just like, ‘Whatever they’re saying is a lie. Someone put him here.’ It’s like, ‘But you trust me, right?”
Admitting that she hasn’t always had faith in her husband, she continued, “Right now, we’re good. I trust him. He has proven time and time again, you can trust me.”Â
Ultimately, Angela felt validated, after claiming to have cleared Charles’ name while meeting with Marcus and blowing holes in his and his employee’s “bulls–t” story’s timeline prior to their foundation’s black-tie fundraiser.
Angela Oakley reveals Charles Oakley’s reaction to her real estate debt
In The Real Housewives of Atlanta After Show video above, Angela admitted that the real estate debt had “taken over” her marriage.Â
“I’m not one to admit I’m wrong often,” she continued with a laugh. “And so Charles is just in this, ‘I told you so’ mode. Everything. He can’t wait to get a jab in.”
Still, Angela shared that Charles was a bit “reluctant” to let go of the properties.
“A part of him still wanted us to win,” she explained. “He didn’t want me to just lose, and he lost too.”
Did Angela Oakley ever sell her investment homes?
According to the RHOA finale’s end-of-season update, “Angela sold three houses, but two have unfortunately been lost.”
Though it’s unclear if unloading the properties alleviated the aforementioned marital “strain” after filming wrapped, Angela’s Season 16 end card concluded that there’s “no word on when she and Charles will renew their vows.”
