Angela Oakley is revealing new details about where her marriage to NBA legend Charles Oakley stands during the above first look at The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 premiere, airing Sunday, April 5 at 8/7c on Bravo.
“Charles and I are stronger than ever,” Angela shares with producers during a confessional interview. “We’re making great strides in our marriage, and we’re still standing.”
However, as the two enjoy a grilled meal outside their Atlanta home, Angela shares there’s still a bit of tension after Charles recently made a shocking comment during an appearance on a relationship podcast. When asked, “What made you get married?” Charles joked that something was put “in [his] drink that night.”
“But Charles was the one who actually planned to get married, [and] planned for us to go to Vegas,” Angela reveals of their July 2016 wedding. “For him to say that? I was just like, ‘Where is this coming from?’”
As the two discuss his comment in the first look, Charles defends himself. “I didn’t say you drugged me, did I?” he tells Angela, who replies, “Who else? That means you didn’t choose to marry me.” But Charles points out, “I apologized to you, and I told you about it. I’m here.”
Angela Oakley explains why she’s not defending her husband on RHOA Season 17
Angela and Charles’ debut season on RHOA Season 16 was plagued with rumors about Charles. This time around, though, “I am not shutting down another rumor,” Angela declares in the first look at the RHOA Season 17 premiere.
One such rumor came from Kelli Ferrell, who alleged that Charles had fathered a child outside of his marriage to Angela. “[Kelli] said my husband had a side baby on me, and that’s all over the internet,” Angela explained during The Real Housewives of Atlanta After Show. “I just told her, you know, there’s a lot of untruths on the internet … Especially about my husband, who’s actually known.”

Angela was also confronted with a rumor that Charles had cheated on her.
“I was like, ‘This whole event was about you and you missed it.’…He was just so aloof. He was like, ‘Well you know it was set up.’ He was immediately dismissive,” Angela said on the After Show, later adding, “I did believe Charles. I did know it was some bulls–t.”
Now on RHOA Season 17, Angela says she’s had enough. “So whatever rumor you have about Charles, Angela this year does not give one f—k,” she announces during the preview. “I heard he sleeps with a stocking cap on his hair? I don’t care. I heard his rolls his hair up with pink rollers? I don’t care. I heard he’s sleeping with the candy lady down the street? Guess what, I don’t care.”

In addition to mentioning that she and Charles are “stronger than ever,” Angela’s official bio for RHOA Season 17 notes that she’s navigating “life and family challenges in the wake of her mother’s passing.”
