The couple has been so open about the highs and lows in their decades-long marriage. Both Angie and Shawn appeared on Wife Swap: The Real Housewives Edition, where Shawn admitted that they have their own individual struggles in their relationship. “Angie, you know, when she gives directions, you start to feel like there’s maybe some micromanagement that happens,” he explained. “Some people run on the treadmill. Some people run their mouths.”

“The struggle for her is just being able to kind of sit together, hang out as a family,” Shawn added. “For me, that’s precious time. I wish Angie would join us in that a little bit more.”

Angie and Shawn celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary in June, declaring how much love they have for each other. Angie took to her Instagram account on June 13, where she posted a series of new and old photos of Shawn, along with the sweetest message to him.

“A Hair Affair,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “Seems like yesterday I booked an appointment for a blow dry with this dreamy guy I saw on the cover of a romance novel in the grocery store checkout. Long hair like Fabio, big muscles, and known to be lethal with scissors. The rest is HAIRstory.”

Angie has also been so open about how much she admires Shawn as a father to their 13-year-old daughter, Elektra. Angie took to Instagram in June 2023, where she compared Shawn’s parenting skills to those of her dad, Louie.
“I am grateful to have married a strong man who shared the same values, love, and commitment for family as my Dad,” she wrote. “It’s hard to imagine my father raising seven children alone as Shawn has been by my side since Elektra’s first breath and every step of the way thereafter. His presence has shaped the amazing young lady she is and continues to become.”
