ANOTHER Body Found in Bayou Near Where College Student Was Discovered Dead Days Earlier – Crime Online

An investigation is underway after a body was found in a bayou on Thursday — marking the sixth body recovered from a Texas city’s waterway in the last two weeks.

The Houston Chronicle reported that the unidentified body was discovered in the Buffalo Bayou, near the University of Houston-Downtown. A student at the college, Jade McKissic, was found dead in Brays Bayou on September 15 — five days after she vanished near campus.

Reports indicated that 13 people have been found in Houston-area bayous this year. Five of those bodies were discovered in a six-day span.

The latest body was discovered two days after Houston officials dispelled rumors about a serial killer in the city. Officials also told the Houston Chronicle that there is no indication the latest case is connected to the other bodies found this month.

“I do say enough is enough on speculation, out of respect for the families and also the 2.3 million Houstonians in our region. We have challenges — we’re meeting those challenges — but a serial killer loose in Houston is not one of our challenges today,” Houston Mayor John Whitmire said on Tuesday.

Other than McKissic, officials have not publicly identified the other bodies found in Houston bayous. Reports indicated that one of the bodies have been identified, but authorities are not identifying them until their family is notified.
