Ariana Biermann is shedding new light on Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann’s divorce.
As you can see in the above preview of Next Gen NYC’s premiere episode (set to air June 3 at 9/8c), Ariana is no longer the little girl we first saw on The Real Housewives of Atlanta when it premiered in October 2008. The 22-year-old has flown the nest and is stepping out for the first time on her own in the Big Apple.
“I love the New York energy,” she says in the video above. “The second I got off my plane and walked out of the airport and smelled the urine and the cigarettes, I was like, ‘This is my place.’”
As she explains in the clip, although she’s officially relocated, she still has a couple of things in her life to figure out, like where she’s going to live and what exactly is going on between her parents, Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann.
“My mom is Kim Zolciak. Do we still say Biermann? I’m not sure this week,” she jokes to a producer in a confessional. “My mom did [The] Real Housewives of Atlanta. And my dad played football for a while. And now they’re getting a divorce. It’s been very messy, so I was really ready, ready to get out of Atlanta.”

Ariana has been vocal about the difficulties of Kim and Kroy’s separation, which was announced in May 2023. The Don’t Be Tardy couple were married for 11 years before announcing their divorce and share four children together: Kroy (known as “KJ”), Kash, Kaia, and Kane. Kroy adopted Ariana and her older sister Brielle Biermann, who both took his last name, in 2013.
“You know when you’re younger, like 10, and you think about divorce… You’re like, ‘Oh my God, two Christmases, two vacations, two birthday gifts, fun time, extra food on Thanksgiving… What a fun time,” Ariana said in a December 2024 TikTok. “And then you grow up, and then you’re an adult, and then it actually happens. And then you’re like, ‘Oh s–t. Divorce f–king sucks. Oh my God. This is actually the worst thing that’s ever happened, for everyone involved.’”
Ariana added that it’s making her question if she ever wants to get married as she dates Hudson McLeroy.
“You think to yourself, ‘Do I want to get married? Because does that just make things complicated?’ Then you think, ‘Yeah I do. Yeah but no. I don’t know. Because this really just f–king sucks,'” she said on social media. “So, this just sucks.”
Ariana Biermann gives an update on Kim and Kroy’s living situation amid divorce
In a recent interview with The Daily Dish, Ariana shared a positive update on Kim’s new living arrangement after Kim and Kroy sold their house in February.
“My mom’s new house is amazing,” Ariana told The Daily Dish. “She’s so happy.”
“She was living in the basement of our old house…so I think for her, it’s almost like a really nice, fresh start,” Ariana shared. “Where she can be in her own space and kind of just heal from everything that’s gone on in the past couple of years.”
Ariana also shared that Kroy is in a new home, adding, “I hope he’s doing amazing.”
“I think it’s really a tough situation right now, between the family, and it goes through its waves,” she admitted. “But he lives in his own house as well.”
Are Kim Zolciak and Kroy Biermann divorced?
Kim and Kroy are not legally divorced.
“I think it gets hard sometimes,” Ariana shared with Us Weekly in April. “It’s been a really long divorce. Two and a half f—king years, and it’s still not even almost done.”
Ariana also revealed her mom is back on the dating scene.
“She’s exploring her options, and she should,” she said. “She’s out there and she deserves it. I’m like, ‘Don’t get anything serious yet.’ I also tell her we’re in a totally different world than we once were [and] these people are f—king crazy.”
