Memphis Depay

Depay is out of contract next summer with Barcelona and the Camp Nou board are keen to shift the Dutchman at the next possible opportunity to free up some cash.

The World Cup quarter-finalist is not receiving the game time he craves in Catalonia and there is a bargain to be had for any team willing to throw their hat into the ring in January.

The major plus with Depay is that he can also play out wide or as a No 10 – meaning he would still have a purpose at Arsenal once Jesus returns.

With Barcelona keen to sanction his departure, this could be a great opportunity for the Gunners to land another top forward following the conclusion of the World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo

That is also why Cristiano Ronaldo seems highly unlikely to be considered by Arsenal – which seems somewhat crazy given all he has achieved in the game.

Nonetheless, Mikel Arteta has taken his time to build a special environment at Arsenal and history shows the Spaniard will not stand for big egos.

Ronaldo is available on a free transfer though and the deal could be of appeal in one season, given they need goals in attack.

However, signing CR7 is not entirely worth the baggage that comes with it – as proven by Manchester United and Juventus in the past few years.

The Portugal international still has what it takes to play at the top level but he would impact the way Arsenal play and that is not something they will want to do given they’re five points clear at the Premier League’s summit.

Edin Dzeko

Dzeko could be a brilliant left-field wildcard option given he is out of contract next summer.

Given he is 36, there is a high likelihood that Arsenal could land him without competition – should they wish.

Even though he is getting on, the Bosnian is one of the best strikers of his generation having scored goals in Germany, England, Italy and at international level.

Furthermore, even with Jesus is back fit and firing, Dzeko’s quality would still be of use. At the moment at Inter Milan, he has settled for a squad role but he still chips in with big goals for the Nerazzurri.

Signing Dzeko on a short-term contract would represent top business from Arsenal and importantly, it would ease the pressure and burden on Eddie Nketiah.
