Assault Suspect Says He Thought It ‘Legal’ to Use Gun to ‘Get Answers’ – Crime Online

A Florida man shot a woman while trying to “get answers” to unspecified questions and was pummeled by the woman’s husband in response.

Michael Phillips, 76, was charged with aggravated battery in the Saturday night shooting, Insidelake.com reported.

The outlet said that Phillips arrived shortly after 7 p.m. on Saturday and spoke with Denise Rosa, who was outside putting her dog into a vehicle. She told deputies she invited Phillips inside for a card game and then finished with the dog and headed inside.

As she entered, she heard Phillips say, “Don’t trust what she says.” Rosa said she asked what he mean, and Phillips called her a “f****** c***” and pulled out a gun.

The two struggled, and Rosa was shot in the forearm. Witnesses called for her husband, who gave him a beatdown. The gun was taken away during that fight.

Both Rosa and Phillips were airlifted to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Phillips admitted to deputies taking the gun out of his pocket and saying it just went off. He said he had “questions” and thought using the gun was a legal way for him to “get answers.”

The affidavit does not say what “questions” he had.

Phillips remains behind bars on a $25,000 bond and is due in court on November 10, jail records show.
