Autistic Jewish Boy Came Home From School With Swastika Carved In His Back – Crime Online

A Las Vegas school district is facing legal action after students allegedly carved a swastika into the back of a Jewish boy with special needs, KTNV-TV reports.

On Thursday, the mother of the 17-year-old victim filed a complaint against the Clark County School District with the Nevada Department of Special Education stemming from the incident.

The complaint alleges that the hate-filled attack on her son in March at Clark High School violated his civil rights. The boy is autistic, nonverbal and has a service dog, and a full-time staffer worked with him at the school.

A photograph provided by the woman’s attorneys and published by Fox5 shows a swastika etched on the boy’s back.

Upon discovery of the symbol, the mom said she pulled her son from the school district for his safety, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The district in April told KTNV-TV that it investigated the allegations and “found no evidence that would indicate the origin of the injuries,” according to the television station.

The Lawfare Project, a Jewish nonprofit legal service, is representing the unidentified mother. The group said the school district did not conduct an adequate investigation.

“This horrific act against a defenseless Jewish student is a stark reminder of the deeply rooted issue of antisemitism that persists in our society,” Ziporah Reich, director of litigation for the Lawfare Project, said in a press release, according to Fox News.

“Furthermore, the failure of the Clark County School District to conduct a proper investigation into this incident is evidence of the systemic apathy that exists towards Jews who are targeted by hate-crimes.”
