It’s shortly after 9 a.m. on Sunday Morning: Kerri McDermott answers her door, finding her neighbor’s children asking for help.
They can’t find Dad and Mom is crying in her bedroom. McDermott calls 911. Police find Breanne Pennington lying in her bed with a gunshot wound to the face. Three spent shell casings are near her body, but Aaron Pennington is gone.
Investigators executed a search warrant for the Pennington home, as well as Aaron Pennington’s cell phone. It was what was found on Aaron Pennington’s cell phone that led a judge to issue a warrant for his arrest on murder. According to court documents, investigators found a note from Saturday evening, the night before his wife’s body was found.
The note said, “Don’t say anything. Be quite [sic] If she wakes up just say you’re getting nasal spray. Get on side of bed – very close proximity on bed. Put hole in her head.”
Pennington has yet to be found.
