Police in Florida have released body camera footage showing the arrest of a woman accused of brandishing a gun at a McDonald’s drive-thru after ordering something that wasn’t on the menu.
As Law&Crime previously reported, Quavi Young, 26, was arrested in March for allegedly appearing to threaten a worker at the fast-food giant. According to her arrest report, Young pulled her car up to the speaker at the drive-thru and requested a meal that was not on the menu. When the McDonald’s worker told Young her order could not be completed because the order wasn’t on the menu, Young pulled up to the first drive-thru window and demanded her order be taken, according to police.
The worker asked Young what her problem was and why she was so mad, and in response, Young pulled out a gun, pointed it at the worker and said, “she’ll push her s— back,” according to the arrest report. Young later drove to the next window, police said.
Workers at the McDonald’s told police that this was Young’s second visit to the fast-food restaurant that night, but they did not provide any specifics about her first encounter.
When officers arrived at the McDonald’s, they found a black M&P gun with a drum-style magazine “capable of holding up to 50 rounds” on Young’s passenger seat, officers said. Young is heard on the body camera footage telling officers she has a concealed carry permit.
Young is also heard denying the accusation as police detained her.
“Why would I threaten someone when I’m still sitting in my car waiting on my damn order?” she is heard saying on the body camera footage. “That does make any sense.”
She accused the McDonald’s worker of being a liar.
Police eventually placed Young under arrest and escorted her to a squad car. When Young asked why, officers said they had watched security video and that she was being arrested for aggravated assault.
Court records show that Young has a hearing scheduled for Oct. 31.
