BOND REDUCED for Mom Who Baked 1-Month-Old Daughter in Oven – Crime Online

A Missouri woman who allegedly killed her 1-month-old daughter this month by putting her in an oven had her bond reduced during a court hearing on Tuesday.

Mariah Thomas, 26, reportedly put the infant in the oven instead of her crib on February 9. The baby was declared dead at the Midtown home where Thomas and the infant lived with Thomas’ parents, according to KSHB.

Reports indicated that Thomas’ daughter seemed to have thermal injuries all over her body. Her bodysuit also appeared to have melted into her dirty diaper. Additionally, a burned baby blanket was reportedly recovered from the living room.

People close to Thomas claimed she may have mental health or cognitive disabilities which may have played a role in the baby’s death.

Thomas was charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. Her bond was originally set at $200,000, but it was lowered to $100,000 at Tuesday’s hearing, KSHB reported.

Thomas’ arraignment is scheduled for March 4.
